How to overcome Maximum Number of Monitors from GTX 1080

I need to run X-Plane spanned across 3 monitors, the cockpit instruments displayed on a 4th monitor and the IOS on a 5th monitor. As the GTX 1080 has a max of 4 monitors can I "fool" it by connecting the "X-Plane output" to a Triplehead2Go (will it think it is seeing only 1 monitor?) leaving me with 2 outputs available for the other 2 functions?
Or alternatively, should I add another GPU (I still have my old GTX 680).
In any case, how would I configure the system?

If you need a fifth independent screen, you have little choice but to find another display adapter.

Possibly, that could be an integrated motherboard adapter or your old GTX680.

If your psu is not strong enough for adding a GTX680, you can buy a low power card for not very much that operates on pcie slot power only like a GTX1050.

I need to amend my answer; I was thinking of a different product.

If you read the tripleheadto go specs, it would appear that you can do what you want.
That is, depending on the connection requirements of your current monitors.

But, at a price of some $300 it would not seem to be the best way to do it.
In addition, I see no reference to the maximum refresh rates which will be important to you for fast action.

Thanks geofelt. The PSU is a 1050 so no problem with the power although I'm glad you mentioned the PSU because it could have been a valid restriction. However, I don't know how to configure the system, graphically speaking. I f I did re-install the GTX680, how do I control X-Plane graphics and IOS going to the GTX 1080 and then to 4 monitors (3 scanned multiscreen displaying the flight + 1 monitor displaying the IOS), and the instrument panel going to the GTX680 and the 5th monitor?

There is no problem with windows using multiple independent display adapters.
Attach your most performance sensitive monitors to the GTX1080.
Attach the others wherever, they will not impact gaming.

You configure the appearance and locations of the monitors using the windows display resolution function.(right click on desktop to select)

As to how you put various displays on selected monitors using X-plane, I do not know.
