Hi All,

My internet connection gone slow because of BITS. I searched how to stop it and successfully done it. However, after a while, BITS is automatically starting and when I check the Startup type, from disabled, it's back again to Automatic (Delayed start) and it's hogging up again all my bandwidth.

My OS is windows 10. I hope you could help me get rid of this or stop SVCHOST(netsvcs) from hogging all my bandwidth.

Thanks.

I already explained WHY that happens, which is that disabling BITS will disable Windows Update. As you know, security updates are mandatory, and hence BITS is required to be always on.

Your problem is NOT with BITS, rather something else, like outstanding updates you haven't completed or other software using that system.

BITS doesn't do that, and disabling it WILL disable Windows Update.

What you need to do is figure out what's actually using the bandwidth, most likely it's just your updates being installed, which is temporary.

Turning it ON is as easy as turning it OFF. Wouldn't really be the end of the world.

My prob was some of the things I turned OFF in Windows 10 turned themselves back on. Then I looked for some type of hex-edit mod to be able turn them OFF permanently but when I reboot they were turned back ON. Very scary. And I got better things to do with my time. Why I walked away from Win10 (Not to go off topic).

I kept on disabling it and ending process. Does it mean the download progress of this BITS will return back to 0%? If so, I guess I need to to let it be for a while until it finished downloading the update. Its been my problem for a week now.

If you have outstanding updates, then yes, it will keep at it until everything is downloaded. If there's no updates left and it still does it, it might be a sign that either some other software is using it or another software is screwing with it (firewalls, apple products, etc)
