How to Pick a Good Surge Protector for a High End Gaming System

Looking to protect my high end gaming system with a surge protector. We lose power a lot and have thunderstorms in my area.

What makes one surge protector better than another? I'm picking one up at Harbor Freight, Discount Electronics, or Fry's today.

Good question. I don't know of anybody that does useful, real world, tests of those units. Monster surge protectors have a good reputation. And I have had one save a system that was hit by a big surge that took out several electronics in my house a few years back.
