how to play a fullscreen game on my TV which is connected to my PC via hdmi ?

I have a gaming PC
with a 1050p monitor
now I also connected my 40 inch 1080p TV via hdmi

but when I start a game it start and open on my monitor even if I drag it to my TV
I don't have an option to choose 1080p in game settings only 1050p

I don't want to set my TV as my primary monitor
because then when I unplug my TV all of my icons on my desktop will be randomly missed or moved

any solution ?
