How to play a multi (.r) file game?

I have a game split into 73.(.r) files that instantly changed into complex zip files as soon as i tried to open one. Im 64 old and technology changed a LOT in the past 12 yrs since I've gamed. And my internet may not support online game speeds.

Did I waste 6 hours of download bandwith? Will an ISO program decipher these files?
