I need help to set up a media center at my home.
Following are the components/ devices i have

1) LG LED SMART TV with Wifi Dongle connected to it
2) 2TB Seagate External Hdd with Power Connector
3) 2 Laptops
4) D-Link Wireless ADSL router which also has a USB port to connect storage device

I need to know what is the missing piece of the puzzle i need to purchase (Cheap perferably) in order to play content on my TV from my external HDD 'WIRELESSLY' and not using usb cords.

Appreciate all the help and options i can get :). Thanks

Solution
Connect the drives to one of your computers or to the router share out the drive on your network. If your TV can read the media on the drive, it should pick up the share and allow you to select it.

When you say "wireless" connection to the drive, I'm assuming you mean connection to the TV. You need to connect the external drive with the USB cable to something, it can't just sit there without a cable on your desk and allow you to connect to it.

Thanks hang-the-9 for your solution.
Regarding your first alternative, i am having issues with the USB port on my wifi router so i would not be able to test this yet.

By wireless i mean if there is anyway that i can play media content residing on my external 2tb hdd on my TV through wifi. For e.g. by adding a NAS diskless device or a wifi media player that can connect to the hdd or something...am not sure

Yes, all those things will work. I have mine setup on a computer and use an XBOX 360 as a media player. The only issue with that is the computer has to be on for this to work. Anything that can share a hard-drive or stream from one on your network would work.

Could you provide me an alternative where i would not have to turn any computer on so that i am able to play media off my hdd on the Tv wirelessly?
Even for Media players and NAS devices i would need the computer to be on? If not, what is the cheapest option that i could purchase and how would it work?

NAS is network attached storage, so you don't need the computer on, it connects directly to the network, same thing for a media player that can run an external drive. For some reason the WD media players are all out of stock in Newegg, but there is an Android based one here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1JM0ZX1485

Also this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=CKzP-NL91boCFdJZ7Aod_XEAgQ&Item=N82E16822708005&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+NAS-_-N82E16822708005&ef_id=UnvtVAAABC@rZGUy:20131108200150:s which is more of a NAS device you can plug your own disks into for sharing and streaming media to your network.
