How to power a wireless keyboard with USB?

I'm trying to soldier wires to the battery compartment of my wireless keyboard to power it from USB. It works on 3v with two AAA batteries. I'm going to keep its wireless interface. So will 5v be ok to power my 3v keyboard or do I need to drop the voltage and how? Thanks for your time!

You will probably damage your keyboard... You need voltage regulator to make 3V out of 5V
