How to print from USB 3.0 computer to USB 2.0 printer

I'm trying to get a printer working with a computer. The problem is that the computer only has USB 3.0 ports, and the printer is a USB 2.0 device. When trying to connect, it gives a compatibility error. To specify the printer is a Canon imageclass. Is there a workaround for this?

USB 3.0 should be backwards compatible with USB 2.0.
Have you got other USB sockets to use?
