[SOLVED] How to prolong micro usb cable

Hello,
I have bought an indoor security camera powered by a micro usb cable and a power supply adapter.

I would like to hide the power cable into the wall ducts so I have thought to cut the micro usb cable into two and to prolong just the positive and negative wires.

is it possible, has anyone made anything similar?

How far do you need to extend the cable?

FYI:

Very likely that if you cut the cable and try to splice or solder an extension of some sort you will degrade the cable.

And you must deal with all of the wires. Not just positive and negative wires.

You may be better served by a wireless indoor security camera.
