Build Advice How to proper evolve my gaming computer?

Hey guys! I would love to get your input on my concerns.

I love gaming (most FPS games) and have for many years. My problem is that I want to evolve my computer correctly within my criteria. Yes, I know I could just buy the expensive computer who has the best GPU etc. But I don't want to spend lot of money, and and I am pretty sure that my needs are also not for the best of the best. Then again I am no tech shark and often get insecure about where I should do next for a proper budget update.

Therefore, I would really appreciate your opinion on what you would change from my current tech setup to achieve a better gaming experience (within shooting games like Hunt Showdown)?

MY SETUP (computer was bought as new in 2020)
CPU
1 x Intel Core i5-10400F Processor

Motherboard
1 x Gigabyte H410M H H410M H

Graphic card
1 x ASUS Geforce RTX 2060 PH 6G Grafikkort

RAM
1 x Kingston HyperX Fury 2x8GB 2666MHz RAM

MONITOR
BenQ 27" XL2720Z - 3D Ready (year 2015)

Any thought and ideas are most welcome.

Thanks!

/Jesper

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

1| You might want to stylize your post with info asked of in this thread;

2| I don't want to spend lot of money
How much can you spend? Preferred site for purchase? You're location?

3|
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Hi Lutfij,

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the guidelines.

I will try to work with that.

In the meanwhile I hope my questions still will make people want to comment. Any ideas is more than welcome.

Have a nice day.

We really need the info as Lutfij said.

As it is now, the H410 platform is dead and any upgrade requires a new mobo and cpu.

If GPU is holding you back, get the new PSU and this GPU:

check if your case has enough room for the card!!!

If you want to reuse the rams and stay with a low budget build:

mobo supports USB bios flashback for 13th gen CPUs

Thanks a lot people for your time with this. Means a lot!

What I hear you say:
- I need a new GPU (graphic card). Is there any significant difference between Radeon RX 6700 XT and 6750 XT?
- If I go with one of these cards will I need to change any other hardware to get the full value of the new card? (f.e. Motherboard, power suply (Hydro PRO 500W) etc.)

I am having challenges with frames per seconds exceeding 60, so I don't know whether a new monitor would bring a lot of value?

Again thanks for your thoughts.

Turn your in game settings to low and off. That will show the max FPS your processor can put out. Edit try more than one game like that.

If your FPS go up by a good bit then a new PSU and video would be your first upgrade.

little less than 10% between the 6700XT and 6750XT https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-6750-xt-strix-oc/31.html
either card recommends 600watts min PSU

Till now, you have only listed 'Hunt Showdown' as one of the games you play. Which other games do you play and want to play?

Which hydro pro is your PSU? there is usually a suffix after Hydro if its FSP Hydro series.
I play several (CS, Killing floor etc.), but most of my time is Hunt Showdown, and this is also the reason I want to upgrade my computer.

These info is the only ones I can find for my PSU: Shark Gaming Bloodpump 500W Bronze Certified (88%) HYDRO PRO 500-SG

Alright. So I need a new PSU if I go with one of these video cards. Can I buy "any" from 600w and up, or is that a certain type for my current specs?

Also do I need to buy a new motherboard for these video cards to function optimal?
You want to get a good quality PSU. Seasonic and Corsair make some really good ones. The seasonic focus gold and corsair RMX and RMe PSUs are also great. I suggest a 750w PSU for any future upgrades. You do not need a new motherboard to use a new graphics card with your current PC.

Look for a tier A, atx 3.0 psu .750w min, 850w recommend.

Hello all,

Again thank you for all your comments, thoughts and ideas. I really appreciate it.

I am now pretty sure that I would find the most value in a new video card. I think the AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT would suit my price level most.

Together with that video card I should invest in a PSU. Would the 850e (corsair) be the best proposal for that?

I have to admit that my hardware knowledge is lower than I thought. I read someone mentioning NvME and that should be a valuable choice? Can you specify what this is and do (sorry for my lack of knowledge), and preferable which I should choose that suits my current setup together with the new video card and PSU.

Thanks people.

The 6750xt will be a great card for your purposes.

The corsair RMe PSUs are great, any of them above 750 watts would be a great investment.

NVMe is a standard for storage devices. This is not relevant to graphics cards and and PSUs unless you were interested in getting a new fast storage device as well.

Just to add to the confusion, there is a niche product idea for 8x GPUs out there that put an M.2 NVMe storage slot on the GPU. Basically just a way to reclaim some of the PCIe lanes not used by the GPU.

6750XT being an x16 GPU would not have any models that offer this.

----

About the only cool thing is that if you have PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, you can install an extra PCIe 5.0 SSD and run it at full speed. Most motherboards only offer one PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot.

But it also means you end up with an overpriced GPU.

I completely forgot those existed...

It is a clever idea, just that the 4060Ti is probably the upper limit of what you can cram into a typical small form factor build, so I can see whey they chose that one to do it with. But also not a card that many enthusiasts would buy.

I wouldn't mind that on my A380 at all since it is plugged into a Mini-ITX board with limited M.2 slots.

What someone really needs to do is come up with an 8x to x16 adapter that includes a ribbon cable or something. Also PCIe bifurcation will need to become somewhat standard on motherboards, quite a complicated setup today.
