I like searching for used parts for a good deal, and I came across a mixture of components super cheap. Anyway, I’m this pack, there was a coolermaster heatsink, but is doesn’t have a fan. It looks like an 80mm or 92mm fan could fit on there pretty well, but I only have case fans. How would I attach a case fan to this heatsink? I don’t have the exact model name, but it is grey and has 6 heat pipes. Thanks for the help!

Solution
The issue with using a case fans on a CPU cooler is that case fans are usually high volume fans which means they move a lot of air but not with a lot of force. CPU cooler fans are static pressure, meaning they push harder but move less air, they are what are used when an obstruction such as a cooler is in the way.

As far as attaching a a fan to a cooler, the cheap and easy way to do it when you dont have the right clips is to use zip ties. It doesn't look pretty but it works. Just google image search "cpu cooler zip tie on fan" and youll see what I mean.

Yeah I get the case fan thing, but it’s really the only option I have if I want to use this heat sink. I’ll try the zip tie thing, thanks!
