Ok, first up, I want to say that I know I'm an idiot, and that I should have been paying closer attention, so please; useful comments only.
Alright. So I have a remote link to my personal computer from my work computer because I have been converting a lot of recorded TV for my wife.
While remoting in, I started cleaning some stuff up, because it had been a while since I had done so (almost 80 gbs in the recycle bin, and around 30 gbs in temp files). I went to the startup tab in MSCONFIG and started checking through, and there was a bunch of useless crap that started automatically. I 'disabled all' with the FULL INTENTION of re-selecting the OS so the computer could actually boot.
However, I got distracted with something at work, and when I came back, I simply clicked OK instead of making sure that I re-enabled it. Of course, though, I managed to reselect my remote control software, but not the OS. Of course now, after the automatic restart, I cannot log in anymore.
Now, I'm not home to see what the computer is now doing, but I want to know if anyone has any advise concerning this problem before I go face it and spend potential hours fighting it. I DO have the original install DVD so I'm assuming i would need to run the startup repair off of it or something to that effect.
I can reinstall the OS (which is windows 7 professional, by the way) if I need to, but i'd prefer not to if at all possible. I have plenty of Linux disks to back up my files.
Thanks for any help.
