How to re-register the Windows store in Windows 10

If you find the Windows Store app doesn’t work, won’t open, hangs or gives an error, you may find re-registering it within the operating system fixes it. It’s a relatively simple fix to an annoying error, so here is how to re-register the Windows store in Windows 10.

Re-register the Windows store in Windows 10
1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Paste the following into the CMD window ‘PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"’.
3. You should see a progress bar that will be the Windows Store re-registering itself with Windows 10.
4. Reboot your computer and retest the Windows Store.

In the vast majority of cases, re-registering fixes most issues with the store. However, if your problems still persist, clearing the Store cache has been known to fix it.

Clear the Windows Store cache
It is super-simple to clear the Windows Store cache.
1. Type or paste ‘WSReset.exe’ into the Search Windows box.
2. Select WSReset.exe and run it. You might not see anything happening in the window as it all happens behind the scenes.
3. Wait for the process to complete and retest.

Sometimes your computer may need to be rebooted after a cache reset. Responses are mixed. Some users say they have to reboot while others say they did not. Almost all of them said that one of these two remedies worked to restore Windows Store to full working order. Hope it works for you too!
