How to recover data from SD card for kitkat version if the data is saved in jelly bean version

my cell phone was slow and was getting stuck. that time it was having Jellybean version and took backup in SD card, as i was planing to format my cell. i formated and upgrated it to kitkat.
Now wen m trying to restore data from my SD card m unable to get it...as it pop up - that old software data cant be restore in new softwear.it was including some note n imp messges.

Can anyone help me out here.

It's also worth a shot at putting the SD card into a a Windows machine then dowload Android Commander and see if it can help. You may need to root the phone but plug it in when Commander is running and see if you can transfer the files directly into the right folder.

Then again, you may have to face teh fact that the message means what it says.
