How to recover files from a lost USB flash drive?

Hi!
I lost my USB flash drive and I was wondering if there is anyway of recovering my word files in the computer that I used to make the document?

Did you save those documents to the hard drive first, then copied them to the pendrive?
Or did you save them directly to the pen drive when they were created?

I saved them directly to the pen drive but Microsoft word still hás information of their previous alteration on the PC

Then run a search for *.doc or *.docx files on your computer's hard drive and see what comes up.
Anything saved to RAM though is lost when you shut down or restart Windows, as are temporary Word files.
