How to recover files from dead tower

My hp tower just died and the replacement power supply is unavailable. can I retrieve files?

Sure, just pull the HDDs and install into an external enclosure and connect to another PC to transfer files as needed.

Or, just get another power supply (doesn't need to be one from HP) and install it.

If you can remove the HDD and put it in an external enclosure with a USB cable you should be able to access the files from any computer with a USB port. Or, if you're sure its a faulty PSU you can find a temporary substitute.
