Was this a fresh install or just an upgrade? What was on hdd before?

The only real difference is how much you lost.

if you fresh installed win 10 onto win 7 then its all gone.
Win 10 would have required you to delete all partitions and leave unallocated space before it moved on.

If you upgraded win 10 over win 7 or win 8 then all you lost was the operating system and can run reset this PC and go back to win 7, or 8.

Unfortunately, you don't have many options.
You can just scan your HDD with different data recovery tools and hope that the data is not overwritten. Thread on data recovery: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html

It may be a good idea to save all the recovered data on another drive so you don't overwrite the data further.
