Hi Guys
I have a lenovo g580(20157) laptop.
It was working fine but today in the morning I started it and it failed to boot. Error was:

"Unable to find Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller
Check cable connection.
Exiting Intel PXE ROM."

and it takes me to the multi boot menu where i can see my HDD but when i click on it, it takes me back to the same menu.
I tried running Ubuntu on live cd and found no Hard Drive. Then I took my Windows 7 installation disk and tried to check the partitions that are shown before the installation of the OS. It shows whole hdd as Unallocated Space.
I didn't know what happened and now i think my HDD crashed and got wiped automatically.
It contains very important data.I pulled out my hdd from my laptop for recovering my data and tried to use it via USB on another laptop but windows is not detecting it not even on Disk Management! I think its because it do not have any drive format like ntfs or fat32. If i format it my chances of recovering my whole data becomes obsolete because formatting will overwrite my old data.
Now I am out of options please guys help me out i have to recover my data. I need a way to recover it. I have recuva and get my ntfs data back softwares with me

There are a few programs you can use. Pargon and EASEUS both have free partition recovery programs to recover the partition and hopefully get everything back up and running.

How big is the hard drive? It is best to make an exact image of the entire hard drive first before you do this if there is important data. Also INVEST in a backup!

I would start by assessing the physical state of the drive. To this end I would examine its SMART report with CrystalDiskInfo or HD Sentinel.

Then I would examine sector 0 with a disc editor such as DMDE (freeware). If a drive is reported as "unallocated", then this means that there is no partition table in sector 0, which may in turn mean that the drive is unable to read sector 0 due to physical problems, or that it is password protected.
