how to recover photos from a Sd card

I have a Canon Rebel EOS XSI 500, with an sd card PNY OPTIMA SD HC 8g (4c speed). The have photos, then I took new pictures during my vacations but suddenly the camera said card error, we decided to take it off and put it again. It was working, until I came home and connect the camera to the computer inorther to downloaded the pictures, and then I realized the pictures before june 26 aren't there. When I look with the sd card in the camer they don't appear, so I'm worried. Is there a chance I can recover the pictures? How?

No sure what kind of error it was. What I mean is that there might not be anything to recover if they weren't written on the card in the first place. 🙁

However you could try accessing the card via a computer with a card reader as well, to see if the pictures pop-up when you open it. Other than that all you can hope for is data recovery software: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm
