How to recover shortcut files

How to recover my files its shortcut when i double click to open a pop up message says Problem with shortcut The item 'Myfilesname.docx' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut? Yes No.

I had tried previous version but no previous version available. Before i was removing unwanted files from my Documents and then empty recycle bins, and the next thing is i can't find files that i want that i haven't been removed. Then i search at the local disk C for my files and it was appeared that it is shortcut, then i saved it on my desktop , so what will i do?

You've deleted the file/s that the shortcut/s point to. You can do one of two things. One, delete the shortcut/s. Two, recover the file/s from your backup (you do have a backup, right?) and restore them to their original location/s.

Thanks for replying but .......... I don't have any backup ...........

No backup? Then you're well and truly screwed. You've deleted the files and then emptied the trashcan. If at that point you had immediately shut down there was a chance you could recover the deleted files. However, you've obviously been running the system and overwriting the areas where the files lived. If I had to give odds I'd say you have less than 0.1% chance of recovering anything useful. You've just learned a lesson, the hard way, about how important backups are.
