I have an HP Pavilion Elite m9050la, it came with Vista 32 bit but I want to upgrade to 7 64 bit (yes, the CPU is compatible). How do I make a full cleanup? It has the Hard Drive C: and another one called FACTORY IMAGE D:, I'm not sure what it is.
Have only one drive on the computer and install Windows to this drive. Windows will do the formatting. After Windows is installed, you may add other drives to the system. This will avoid errors.
The factory image will re-install Win Vista when you use the re-installation CD that came with your computer.
If you want to upgrade to Win 7 Pro 64-bit, I suggest you buy the package with DVD from someone like Newegg, MicroCenter, TigerDirect, etc. and insert the DVD and follow the prompts. Windows 8.1 Pro is also a viable alternative.
