Hi, im having trouble removing my Sapphire radeon 6850. I dont know where the lever or mechanism is located, so I cant remove it from the PCI express slot. Help would be appreciated

Solution
Okay, take the pointer finger of your right hand and touch the top of your card. Slide your finger to the right until you reach the end of your card, now slide your finger down the backside of your card(where the power connectors are) until you reach the bottom edge of your card. Continue sliding your finger underneath your card towards the pci slot. The next thing your finger touches will be the clip you need to release.

The finger that will release the card should be bumped up against the pci slot, between the card and the motherboard. Depending on how small your case is you may have to use the backside of your finger to depress the clip, rather than the palm side of your finger. Either way, there is definitely a clip there.
It is usually on the edge. Don't forget to remove the bracket screw or clip, too.

Im positive ive removed all the screws, I just dont see any visible lever anywhere around the card.

With my 6850 I actually broke the clip when I removed it because I had forgotten it was there.

If you've got the computer laying down and the rear of the computer is to the left, then the release mechanism is underneath the videocard(between the motherboard and the card) on the right side of the pci slot. There is definitely a clip. Do NOT just yank it out, you will break the clip like I broke mine.

The clip is not immediately visible, you will have to do this by touch.

I cant find one anywhere. The card won't come out no matter how much force I use, so im thinking that there is one, but im just not seeing it.

I have removed a 6850, there is definitely a lever. You can not see it unless you either remove the entire motherboard or use a tiny mirror. It is on the right side of the PCI slot, you have to wiggle your finger in there and depress the lever before the card will come out

Search for your card in Google Images.

Do you see that little L shaped piece on the far right? That's what the clip is connected to. This is also the piece that will break if you jerk your card out like I did.

probs different clip holding it in to the picture and its probs behind the 6850 heatsink you cant see it use your finger to feel for the little clip you push down really fiddly but can be done lol

its like a little plastic bar that you keep pushed down while removing the card my sapphire 6850's heatsink covered it up so it a right ah heck to get to..

Do you mean the L shape at the very end of the card or the one next to the PCI slot? Im still having trouble finding this darn thing, lol.

the L shape next to the buses that insert into the pci slot. It looks like it also inserts into the PCI slot, which it kinda does. It serves no purpose other than to hook into the latch that you're trying to find in order to securely seat your card.

Lol thank you for bearing with me. I finally got it out.

try singing the hokey cokie song may help while finding the plastic prong .... You put your left finger in
your left finger out
In, out, in, out,
You shake it all about.
You do the Hokey Cokey and you turn around
That's what it's all about...

Im not upgrading my graphics card, I got a an i5 3570k with a new mobo, but my current case only supports mATX so I needed to get a new one, which is why im moving everything out aha.
