Hello Everyone,

I have a HPE m510 server blade.
The blade has a CPU but it is soldered on to the board.

I am trying to desolder the CPU from the board.
I am using a desoldering heat gun and I have tried temperatures 220-320 degrees Celsius ,also using Soldering flux paste.

I am still having no luck getting this CPU to come off.
Does anyone have any other ideas or ways to remove the CPU from the board without damaging the CPU?

Thank you.

It quite possibly could be welded on and not simply soldered. You should have seen some movement from it if you had your heat gun hot enough. I've only heard of this in one other instance because of conductivity issues with it being welded but it's possible.

Are you trying to replace the CPU yourself or something?

Hello,

Yes, I need this CPU for one of my other boards and I thought to go this route it was more cost efficient. Trying solder the CPU off but seems like it is welded.
I see no movement at all after multi minutes of heating the CPU.

Are you putting this CPU in a server-type motherboard as the Xeon processors are meant for that specifically?
