Is there any way to cut the DC from the mic in of the SoundBlaster Z Audio cards? I am pretty sure that is what is giving me grief.

I am playing my guitar into the mic input of my SBZ. It works well, except there is a hissing coming from the guitar's output (a cheapy Fender Bullet :(). The entire circuit is passive, so I suspected that the capacitors might be the problem. This means they have a voltage across them. I tested the mic in and sure enough there is 2.85 V across the poles. I assume this is for phantom power to condenser mics. I am pretty sure the mic that came with the card is a condenser.

Thanks for any help
