About a month ago, I installed Linux mint, and then I got bored of it, so I deleted the Linux mint partition in windows, but GRUB was not removed, so now I have to type exit before I can boot to windows. I tried using the fix boot command in cmd, and I get an access denied message despite running the command as the user system 32 in cmd. I have even tried using a USB windows image and trying to do it from there and it still says access is denied. I ran the bootrec/rebuildbcd command, as well, and it said 0 identified windows installs. I don't know how to get access to these commands in command prompt since they don't work despite running as admin.

I didn't even have time to look at it, being honest. The main individual in our office is out sick so I am running the front of the office yesterday and today. I will for sure be coming around to it this weekend and will post back my own experience. It isn't critical, but I would like to use that SSD elsewhere.
Make sure you change the boot order in your BIOS, if you haven’t already.

The machine this drive was in is sold down the road. It was among some old Optiplex that I had left and had available the licensed W10P install that went with it, as well as the option for Linux/Ubuntu as in some cases that has sold on quite well for me. Apparently, there are some fans around my area.
I will likely be putting this into a drive caddy for the attempt. If that doesn't work I have another system I can use as the test bed, cause it sure isn't going in my main rig.

Maybe I’m being a bit naive here, but why wouldn’t you put it in your main rig? Also, I’m curious to know what you’re going to do with this drive.

I don't want the possibility that it makes (that) PC think it is dual boot and have the 'select' message on the splash screen right after POST.

This drive is the last of a lot of WD Blue 250GB class SSD I got in a bulk deal. In spite of their age, they have been real troopers. Have not had a single one of them fail or indicate any issues as far as health. I will probably end up sticking it in someone's older laptop as an update from HDD, or in a budget used part build to try and sell on.

Totally off subject, but I am attempting to pivot my side hustle away from these business class boxes that my supply went dry on into more "gaming" oriented builds. I had some spare parts left over that were almost a system, including an i3. I swapped out the i3 for an i7 in the last remaining Optiplex I have on hand, and set up what I thought was going to be a nice little rig:
i7 3770, GTX970, 1TB Samsung 840(or 50) Evo, junk power supply, etc. I am in it $101 plus a new fan for the GPU (+$15) IF it ever ships. One seller on eBay, in China, and they say shipping time is within 15 days...I am currently at day 10. I am not very confident that it won't turn into a PP refund situation. So, my first foray into this as the new business model is not going so well.
