Hello

I recently delidded my cpu using some random cheap chinese RTV I bought off ebay.

Ran my pc for a while but I wasn't satisfied with the performance boost so I tried to delid again but the RTV I used is so strong it didn't delid the IHS but instead it broke the delidding tool..

I tried using a cutter knife too but it was completely useless..

Does anyone know how to deal with RTVs like this??

Solution
If the delid worked the first time, but then broke the tool on the second attempt, I personally would say you should cut your losses and call it a day.
The compound is obviously too strong to be properly removed, you are most likely going to end up with a damaged processor at this point than a few C lower temps.

Yeah I think you're right.

The reason I wanted to re-delid was because when re-attaching the IHS to the board I just used my hands and found out after that there was an aligning bracket included with the delid tools. So the IHS is actually a tiny bit off from the exact center. Do you think this would cause problems later on?
