Hey guys, I was going to replace my CPU fan as it has failed but I can't remove the old backplate from the mother board. The board is a Acer eg31m board and there are white bands stopping me from removing it. What do I do? Here are some pics: http://imgur.com/Q9OMCqK http://imgur.com/Pg09i3p

you have to remove the backing plate from the back of the motherboard.if you have an access cutout in the rear of the motherboard it is as simple as taking off the side panel of your case and unscrewing it.if you dont have an access cutout you will have to remove the motherboard to change the backplate.if you are just replacing the fan and not the cooler you dont need to mess with the backplate.if you are going to a different cooler then you will likely be changing the backplate.

I want to remove the backplate as it is not compatible with my new cpu cooler, BUT I cannot take the old backplate off as there are little white bands around the screws so I am unable to pull it off.
