Question How to remove the Volume Wheel on Razer Thresher Tournament Headphones and connect both ends of the wire ?

Hi. I have Razer Thresher Tournament Edition Headphones. I love the sound and that has made me stick to them for three years now. The real bad thing about them is the volume control wheel, which is in the middle of the wire. It just doesnt work, and as been like that since i bought them. The sound suddenly disappears or it starts throwing crackles and noise. I have to very gently touch the wheel to get the sound back. Its really really annoying. I wanted to ask is there a way I can remove the wheel and connect both ends of the wire together? I dont care about the volume control function.

I dont think you can remove teh entire assembly, it looks like it has more elctronics then just volume, it might contain a headphone amp too, what you can do solder the middle pin of the wheel to one of the extremes but you need a multimeter to check which is ground and which is sginal, you have 3 pins on the left and 3 pins on the right, that is left channel and right channel, you must do the some for both, i will post an image soon to be more precise.

It should be soldered like this but you need some basic electronic knowledge and check which is ground which is signal, it might be center and up, it might be center and down. This way you make the wheel inactive and you pass the signal directly.

it's likely that the contacts for the wheel are dirty. A better and easier solution would be to clean that with isopropyl alcohol or better yet with a can of contact cleaner spray.
Disconnect the headphones from the pc and use either of the cleaners to douse the area around and under the wheel, then rotate the volume control back and forth all the way both ways multiple times. Shake off excess liquid as much as possible, and allow to fully dry
