how to remove unwanted pop ups and redirects

I keep getting unwanted popups on some sites. Also, I keep getting new tabs that try to redirect me somewhere and new tabs trying to get me to download games or viewers like FLV. How can I remove these and block them?

Depending on what browser you use, there are options like ad blockers (add-ons, usually). Firefox and Chrome are known for that (esp. Firefox, as of late, since Chrome went in the same boat with ad pushers and therefore less friendly about add-ons that block ads).

adblock plus works well for firefox , malwarebytes is a good idea as notherdude said , won't hurt to check for nasty's especially seeing as you are getting redirects
