Besides everything described there, you could also try reformatting the USB flash drive by using a different computer or one of the formatting tools, which some of the manufacturers offer for their devices.

drives with this I use under window 7 I just reformat them under Linux - thing is I don't recall this issue with xp or vista just when I moved up to 7 , and I wonder if a certain windows update they gave causes this ?? funny thing is the issue pen drive works fully [normal] under Linux and the reformatted to fat32 and it will work as expected in windows again ??? also that Linux thing may work under xp or vista if you still got access to a computer with them on it ??
