how to remove write protection on single files on my mac?

Hi i upgraded my mac to mac leopard. I had a couple of little video projects made before that now there are write protected and i can't open them anymore. there are on an external hard drive. how can i un do the write protection ?

Usually it is just a case of selecting the item in finder and selecting 'get info' from the file menu (cmd i). This will display all the details and at the bottom you will see all the ownership and permissions, also there is a little padlock symbol bottom right for locking and unlocking.
