how to repair my harddisk

actually i had a hitachi 500 gb hd which worked perfectly on my laptop but my cousin plugged it to the dish tv reciever it showed formatting disk but I am not worried of the data.since then my laptop is unable to access the data on disk nor is the harddisk displayed in file explorer.when attempting to repair it asks for connecting it at a 2.0 port but before it worked fine on 3.0 port .I use windows 10.is the harddisk beyond repair.

What TV dish receiver, and did the format finish??

If the drive is 3-5 years old its probably going bad anyway.
Drives have a usable life then they are bad.

There is no repairing them past that point.
