Hi I had an HCL Laptop lying around which is been dead for two year and out of curiosity i tried finding out what's wrong with the laptop because when it was damaged, it was because of changed polarity of the laptop charger and i saw a little smoke coming out of the fan vents. Its been dead since then i didn't even get it looked at.
So yesterday when i dissected the whole laptop turns out that there was this section near the I/O IC that's been damaged i don't know anything about electronics nor i have a footprint of the mother board so
I was hoping someone could tell me what this section is called and how to replace this lets say at home.

Please have a look at this image and help me with my problem.
Thank You

There is no way that an individual can replace this damaged component. Even a professional company with the appropriate facilities to deal with surface-mounted components would probably just bin the circuit board. You need a new motherboard; in truth it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new laptop.

Yeah I actually already did that, i was trying to experiment and learn more about under the hood, thanks anyways for you reply :)

Do you know what's the name of this section its near the IO IC ?
