I want to replace the RAM on my motherboard right now and i was wondering if i can pop out the old RAM and install the new RAM without having to take out the motherboard or will i have to take out the motherboard? I dont want to damage anything.

Also would that be the same way to replace a GPU?

Is this a desktop?
Have you taken the side panel off and looked. The RAM should be right there, staring you in the face.

No need to take the motherboard out (usually).

Oh, and be sure you do this with the power off.

Yes it is a Desktop. Thanks for the answer. I just did not want to apply to much force when popping in the new RAM sticks and worry about breaking the motherboard

Yes, that is a bit scary, because it does take more force than some people are comfortable with.
But no, you won't break it.

I need some help. I took out one stick of RAM just to see. I am having trouble putting it back it. I have it lined up properly and i am applying a lot of force and it wont snap in. The amount of pressure I am applying is enough to push over the desktop which is 50lbs. I am applying pressure right in the middle of the stick but it wont snap in. Any ideas?

You won't need a new motherboard, just make sure you are purchasing the right memory. The type of ddr memory should be printed on a sticker on your ram. It might say DDR3 or DDR3l. It has to be whatever kind of memory the motherboard supports. You can't put DDR2 into a DDR3 slot and expect it to be backwards compatible.
