How to reset HP 2311f to factory default without menu access?

Hello,
I've messed up my HP 2311f Monitor, when I was messing around in the settings I accidentally turned off auto switch source and it defaulted to DVI. So now whenever I power on my monitor it shows the HDMI as active but because auto switch source is turned off, it doesn't switch to it. Now I've tried a DVI cable, when I powered up the monitor DVI showed active but it still says check video cable, so maybe this is a hardware fault. So due to not being able to access the menu without the monitor active, I can't use it. Is there some kind of button combination or something that I can use to reset it?

Sorry I might not have made it clear enough, the HP 2311f is the monitor, which I use and switch for different computers.

Did you unplug the hdmi cable from the computer when you switched to the dvi cable?

I find it strange that you cant get into the menu on the monitor without it being activated by the computer. You should be able to just plug a power cable in the back of the monitor and go through the settings with the buttons to set everything up.

Selecting Video Input Connectors
The input connectors are:
● VGA (analog)
● DVI-D connector (digital) select models
● HDMI connector (digital) select models
The monitor automatically scans the signal inputs for an active input and uses that input for the display.
If two inputs are active, the monitor will display the default input source. If the default source is not an
active input, then the monitor will display the other input if it is active. You can change the default
source in the OSD by pressing the front-panel Menu button and selecting Source Control > Default
Source.
