Hi everyone

I used this on Windows 10 on a ssd but when i tried to use windows 7 again i couldn't do anything on that os and hdd from there, and i want to use windows 7 there again at least for a little bit

thank you
Please list the full PC specs. CPU, motherboard, RAM, power supply make and model. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. The 2 OS's are incompatible. Fresh install, old install. Sorry I can't read your mind. If you are thinking about booting both OS's you need a boot menu and fresh installations. That is If windows 7 ancient OS can be booted with windows 10 in 2024. Windows 7 as a stand alone OS. Don't waste your time.

im trying to boot w7 and use it from the original hard disk drive after installing 10 on a separate ssd and changing permissions to windows 10 from the SSD W10 so i could then access it from w10. But afterwards when i tried to boot from hdd or w7 i couldn't do anything because it would say i don't have permission i think. i have i5 2400, optiplex 390, 8gb ram, evga b2 750w, gtx 760

What permissions did you change?

The whole drive?

If so...that ain't gonna work.

Changing permission where? Only have the the ssd installed with the os you want to boot from. Remove the drive with another bootable OS.

Oh I can't anymore? i was thinking of removing permission or some way to give it back permission so I could just the same Windows 7 and files again. Yeah I think I set it to permission for everyone on w10 for the entire drive I think

I changed permission of the HDD with w7 to Windows10 so I could access files from there. I went into the HDD properties security advanced I clicked change or edit found everyone or my user and replace child object permission and set ok change permission or control I think I'm not exactly exactly sure if these were the exact steps but that was basically what I did I think.

Oh, oh... Don't mess with permissions unless you have experience. Hopefully you backup all your data. Use an old windows 7 backup file to restore permissions. Or... Fresh install if it can be reinstalled.

This is why things like that should never be done without a full drive backup Image.
Easily restored.

So what are you wanting to do with the Win 7, and why?
