Hey Tom's, I wanted to ask this because I'm a bit of an idiot regarding internet work.
So I have one long Ethernet cable connecting two rooms, and I want that Ethernet cable to power two computer's internet. However, I've bought a splitter, and a switch, with neither setup working. (the one cable connecting to the setup to the computer's two other cables) How would I go about getting this working?

For hardware, I'm using a INTELLINET 2-Port Modular Distributor, and a MT-VIKI 2 Ports Network Switch Splitter Selector Hub 2-In 1-Out or 1-In 2-Out 100M MT-RJ45-2M connected to a Google Fiber router.

Holly crap, I didn't know such kludge existed but OK. Firstly it didn't work maybe because the INTELLINET says you need one at both ends, sounds like you are mixing and matching stuff that may not be compatible with each other. Anyhow I say this is a kludge because if it even works, this is totally not expandable. Are you sticking with this two connections and never add more?

The correct way to do this is:

Google Router == (one cable) ==> SWITCH (8 ports should get u started) ===> Up to 8 devices.

Simple 8 ports gigabit switches are around usd$30.
You have not used a proper switch and either way you want a router to be able to handle the traffic. If you have a switch you normally want a separate A router handles both in one package. firewall to handle the traffic to the switch and each port. A router handles both in a single package.

You need to connect the Google Fiber to a router then run a cable from each port to each system.

What is "google fiber router". If it is a actual router you only need a switch. If you can plug mulitple devices directly into the device it is likely a router.

All you need to buy is a simple 4 or 5 port switch. I would buy a gig switch since 100m switch would be slower than google fiber. You plug a long cable between your router and the switch and then plug 2 cables into the switch one to each of your pc. You can get something like TL-SG105 for under $25

It is really too bad you bought that stuff none if it will do what you need.
