I got a lot (over 3000) of videos from people, all in different folders and using different codecs. Now some of those are using the codec msmpeg4 and this is causing problems with playback. Though since I don't know which videos use these, I want to search for all videos using this codec. I tried a few things:
1) In explorer, add the column "Video compression" and then I get a weird string. It seems all msmpeg4 videos have the same one ("{3334504D-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}"). But this way I could only check one folder at a time, and this is very impractical.
2) So I tried flattering all folders, by doing a search for all .avi files. This worked, I got all the files in one place, but now the "Video compression" column isn't populated... So I couldn't sort on it to get all the msmpeg4 files.
3) I tried adding all folders to a library, and then setting the "arrange by" option to "Name". Again I got all files in one location, but the "Video compression" column didn't populate.
4) I tried a search for "videocompression:{3334504D-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}" (also without the {}, and just part of the whole video codec code) but then I got no results.
And now I'm out of ideas. Is there any way, perhaps with a program I have to download, to search for files with a certain codec?
Thanks!
