How to Select Best Timings for DDR4

Hi everyone,

I was running a 16GB kit of Corsair DRR4 2400mhz memory on my Z170X gaming 7 and 6700K using the xmp profile without issues. I just built a new kabylake pc so I used this 2400mhz 16GB DDR4 kit for that and purchased a new 8GB kit of DDR4 3200mhz (CMK8GX4M2B3200C16) for the Z170X gaming 7 and 6700K . When I select the xmp profile to run at 3200mhz, I'm having stabilty problems although memtest passes. I've decided to run it at 2400mhz like previously but how do I go about selecting the best timings? Here is a screenshot of cpu-z:

THERE'S NEVER A GUARANTEE it will run the higher profiles , that's why they are labeled OC.

you still use the old ram with lower timing and new ram with higher timing so system will have all of them work at the lower speed in this case 2400 mhz .

Sorry I don't get you. They're both in different systems. I want to run the 3200mhz ddr4 at 2400mhz but the Auto timings are too high.

did you try to manual set the 2 ras settings at 16 and trc 51 or 52 or try ras at 17 with trc 51 or 52 and see waht speed ram goes to .

I appreciate your help. I left it on Auto because I didn't know what to select but I remember they were quite high, like 17 and 18's. I'm away from that pc at the moment so I can't tell you exact. I might try 14-16-16-31 because that's what my other ddr4 2400 runs at. Is there any risk if timings are wrong?

You might need an OC on the cpu to get 3200mhz stable.This OC's the Memory Controller as well. Could try and add voltage to the MC as well,like 0.05V see if that makes things more stable.

To locate the MC voltage, look for something like CPUVTT, DDRVTT, QPI/VTT or VCCIO. Some motherboards incorporate the MC voltage into the system agent voltage or VCCSA

Think you could try 14-14-14-30-1T with 2400mhz (as a start),but keep the voltage at 1.35V for that. It's a test so might not be stable as well.
I have some G.skill ram in one of my pc's that runs 14-14-14-30-1T at 2666mhz and XMP timings are the pretty much the same as your Corsair ram. Not that this is a guarantee that it will work with your ram as well of course.
