Hi.
I just bought your asus A7V but I don't understand how to set the Jumperfree & DSW.
Here I have on my computer:
1. AMD 700MHz T-Bird
2. Kingston SDRAM 128MHz PC133

I would like to know how to set my A7V as the following:
1.How to set JumpFree Mode? Do I set to Jumper Mode[1-2] or Jumper Free(default)[2-3]
2.How to set CPU External Frequency setting? What do I have to do with JEN & DSW1-DSW4?
3.How to set CPU Core Bus Frequence Multiple?
4.If I set in number 1-3 (above question), I need to set the Manual CPU Settings or not. If I do, I have to set JEN to default or not.
5.In the DSW, How do i know when you say "on" and my DSW is Switch on? Do you mean "a small plastic pin" set to the word "on" or what?

Please answer all my questions
Thank you

umm... some of your questions were a little confusing... but i'll try to answer them all

First of all, the multiplier on the athlon is locked , so the dipswitch multipliers will do u no good...(unless u unlock the cpu ) so might as well put all dip switches in off position (white tab pushed up towards cpu)

the bus multiplier can be easily setup in he bios, so set the dip switches for the bus freq in the off position as well (again, white tab up)

in the bios, set cpu clock to 100 MHz and dram to 133 mhz... and that should be it

if you want to overclock, unlock the multiplier on the chip (connect the L1 bridges) and then use the multiplier dip switches.

U can also o/c by raising the bus freq from 100MHz, but you'l probably only get up to around 109-111Mhz (i got up to 111 Mhz), but it's better to o/c by multiplier

i hope this helps ..

good luck

oh, yes... jumper free mode is all dip switches in OFF position
Edited by jojo on 11/29/00 11:47 PM.

thanks jojo
if i want to set my a7v in normal (not over clock) I have to set like these:
1. for the jumper mode setting:
I set to "JumperFree"[2-3] (default)

2.for dip switch DSW1-DSW4:
I set to"off"= you mean the "white cap" go away from the word "on".

3.for dip switch DSW1-DSW6:
I set to"off"= you mean the "white cap" go away from the word "on".

4.then i go set in the bios:
I set the cpu clock to 100MHz and dram to133MHz

That all I have to do right. I'll try them.
Please answer if the steps 1-4 are wrong.

thanks again jojo
