How to set program to open without W7 asking 'do you want to give.....

I open programs like Ccleaner, Rivatuner, steam, and when I open them, the whole screen stops and then the pop up asks for me to give program permission to run.

So, i know there are default settings to give permissions in a blanket sort of way by lowering the overall security.

But, is there an application specific setting, where by I still have overall high security but ONLY set Ccleaner, Rivatuner, steam applications to run without the prompt. (This prompt also stops my Windows Media Center TV from playing, then it resumes after clicking 'yes'. really annoying)

Hi.

This pop up mean that u have enable the UAC (User Account Control), if u want disable the pop up u need disable the UAC.

See here the process to enable or disable the UAC.

ummm....this question is for windows 7, not vista. your link is for the vista, which is different than W7.

soooo, by your method from link:

(We don't recommend turning User Account Control off. If you do turn it off, you should turn it back on as soon as possible.

1.Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

3.Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then click OK.)



For step #2, there is not this option in Windows 7.

But most importantly, I know what you are getting at, there is a similar setting in W7 that creates a Blanket off setting for programs.

But my question was: is there a way to allow individual applications to be allowed to launch, not set a blanket "off" setting. The security is the issue when setting the whole thing to "off"

The problem is, programs of that type need "root" access. I don't think there's any way to give individual programs that kind of access and still have UAC enabled.

There is a slider in Windows 7 that allows you to set the level of prompting you get. This is accessed by going into User Accounts and click on Change User Account Control Settings. If you slide it all the way to the bottom, you won't get any UAC prompts at all. You can try lowering the slider one notch at a time from default to see if it makes any difference in the programs you're referring to.

The answer is no.

Either you disable UAC (which is really not a good idea, it is better to learn to live with it than to risk a rootkit or something stealing your credit card number) or the warnings will show for programs that need the type of access Ccleaner needs.
