how to set up current hdd as second drive without having to format the drive?

im planning to use a new ssd as my primary boot drive and shift my existing hdd to optical bay drive ,so is it possible to set up the hdd as second hard drive without losing data .

(Pls dont say about Cloning, recovery stuffs)

Unless I'm missing something, all you have to do is connect it and it will see it with all the OS and User files on it. FWIW, I's play it safe and install it only after the new SSD is setup, loaded, and booting to avoid confusion or overwriting your old HDD.
