how to set up new hdd and ssd

I currently have a 500gb hdd anbd will be getting a 1tb hdd and a 240gb ssd. How will I go about transferring just Windows 10, chrome, and bf1 to the ssd and everything else to the hdd. After some reading it seems I would have to use a migration tool to move everything on my 500gb to the ssd if I don't want to install Windows. So would moving games and other files to the 1tb hdd first until I only have windows 10, chrome and bf1 on the 500gb then use a migration tool to move what's left on the 500gb to the ssd work?

Hey there.

You can't clone specific programs (that includes games as well). However you could try transferring all the files you have over to the new 1TB HDD and see if you'd be able to trim down the 500GB drive to less than 240GB so that you can clone the whole HDD over to the SSD.
On the other hand, if your Windows is in a separate partition you could clone just the C: drive along with the other Windows associated partitions, without cloning your games and/or personal file if you have them on a separate partition, e.g. D: drive.

Note that copy-pasting programs (just in case you're thinking of trying that) is not really the best option here. It would be best if you simply install them again on the new HDD or SSD, depending on where you want them.

there are ways I found online that can be used to move games (which take up most of space) to another drive and then telling steam or origin or u uplay to download the game and it will just check the files. so will do that and keep Windows and a few other things on the 500gb and transfer it over to the ssd with one of the softwares that'll do it
