Good Morning, I will describe this problem in more detail.

I recently purchased and received a set of Tritton Pro+ 5.1 Surround Gaming Headphones with Mic. I also purchased an Asus Xonar DSX 7.1 surround sound card, (my current Mobo will not support the four jacks necessary).

My headset is now working, however, I do not believe that I am receiving true 5.1 surround, for two key reasons:

1) The audio seems a bit quiet, and the inline volume controller does not seem to allow for individual adjustment of the other speakers except the front one.

2) I am led to believe that true dolby surround is required to run off digital, whereas I am simply running through 4 x analogue audio jacks.

The setup is simple. I've fixed my Soundcard into my PCI-E x 1 slot on the m/b, and the Headset comes with a Digital to analogue adapter, but no converter (I thought I would be given a Tritton Decoder box, but evidently not!), which splits into 4 x 3.5 pins:

green
orange
silver
pink

So this is analogue input. However, I know that the sound card also has an SPDIF port, where I can plug in a Toslink (Optical) cable I have lying around. So my question is in two parts, I apologise if this is confusing:

1) By using these four audio ports (analogue) will I still get true 5.1 dolby surround?
2) If I wanted to go digital (which I do), where would I plug this cable into on my headset, I'm thinking that I would need a DAC converter (if so, how would this connect up)

I'm kind of new to audio side of things, more of a GPU man myself, so I apologise if this is badly written.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

I have a Pro+. Just plug in your output, usb, and turn the volume up on the decoder and your mixer on your cable, and or on the computer, drives are automaticly on the pro+ no need to download them.
