Hello,

I want to know if it is possible to shrink down the screen size to a smaller viewing area. I'm not talking about resolution, I want the actual viewing area shrunk down to resemble a smaller physical monitor size. Is this actually possible? :??:

Solution
Not really, it's selecting a smaller resolution but instead of filling the screen, it stays in a 1:1 scaling.
Some monitors allows to resize the screen though.

Yes it is possible but that will include lowering the resolution too.
In your graphics card control panel there should be a 'no-scaling' or 'manual' option for the image scaling.

For nVidia cards at least:

1) MONITOR must be set to 1:1 scaling (not aspect), then

2) Choose a lower monitor resolution.

For example, if you had a 1920x1080 monitor and chose 1600x900 you'd physically be using 1600x900 pixels so you'd have black bars around the used portion.

No idea why you'd want to do this though.

So there is no way to shrink the image down and 'squash' 1920x1080 pixels into, say, a 10 inch viewing area?
