Current system:
i5 4460 (upgrading soon to i7 4790k)
MSI B85-G43 MOBO
16GB RAM
EVGA GTX 1070 SC

First of, my goal is to play at 1440p Ultra (Or lower) at above 60fps.
I stream, record videos and play games like Assasins Creed Origins, BF4, GTA V, CS:GO etc

When I buy another EVGA GTX 1070 SC what do I need to buy to make them work in SLI? And is it worth it, or should I just sell it and buy an RTX 1080?

Solution
I wouldnt bother in your case. You would need a new SLI capable motherboard and likely a better PSU (depending on what you have).

I would sell the 1070 and get a 1080 ti (or RTX 2080 if you really want the new features that you cant use yet).

Also moving up to the top classes of card would really benefit changing your CPU to a i7, like a 4770 or 4790 (which would drop straight in your motherboard).

According to MSI's webpage on that board (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B85-G43.html) it does not support SLI for Nvidia GPU's. Unfortunately, you cannot use your 1070's in SLI. If it did, or if you were to purchase a board that supported SLI, then you would only need a high-bandwidth SLI bridge to connect the two cards and then configure them to run in SLI.

My recommendation would be to either sell your 1070's and buy a 2080. SLI is dying out anyway and developers aren't really coding games to take advantage of it. And those games that support SLI won't see a noticeable scaling of having two cards.

Actually... I kinda like a lot SLI but its also not the very best thing you can do...
On a 1070 it is somehow plusable... but im not certain at all if its a better investment to actually buy a 1080 since its about 23% faster than 1070...
And i can assure for sure that you can get between 37~62% efficiency with another 1070 depending the game and driver optimization. I will say that you will be on a stable +45% efficiency almost all the time.
But also you will have to consider that NOT every single game takes adventage of SLI technology...
The listed games you cuote are indeed SLI capable.
Also, please take in mind that adding another 1070 will fully consume as your 1070... So you will draw 1070 wattage x 2.
which is about 150w~170w per gtx 1070 (300w~340w in total)

I am very fan of SLI and i greatly recommend it if your pc is capable of handling it.

anyways... Unfortunally you have to upgrade your motherboard since it dosent support SLI. Once you upgrade it you will surelly find an SLI bridge incluided with your mobo and all you have to do its to merge them using the bridge.

Hope i enlightened you!
Cheers!

What's the performance boost from 1070 to 1080 ti? Also to be clear Assasins Creed Origins doesn't support SLI. Also I have a Corsair CX600M PSU, will I have to upgrade it when I will buy the 1080 ti?

I would go for a higher quality PSU for the 1080 ti personally.

Something at least 650w from Seasonic/Superflower higher end units from EVGA/Corsair etc.
