I have a Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2 Rev. 2.2 and it only have SATA II connection. Is there any point in getting a ssd. I was also thinking to get the pci ssd just to put the os but idk if it is any faster.
get a normal sata 3 ssd. it's still way faster then the harddrive and the only place where you see the sata2 bottleneck is on benchmarks. in real world performance / app loading you will not notice the difference between a sata2 and sata3 plugged ssd.
PCI SSD would be your only option other than getting a new motherboard. Getting a new motherboard would be cheaper. PCI SSDs are faster than just regular ssds, but a lot more expensive.
You will still notice a difference with an ssd plugged in to sata II compared to an hdd, i think its better to buy a larger ssd to plug into sata II than getting a small pcie ssd, since they are expensive
