Dear people,

My boot time from power on to desktop is around 25 seconds, which is pretty awful for my system. I have seen people getting faster boot speeds and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong :/
I have the following configuration:

- UEFI Windows 8.1 installed on my GPT SSD
- Fast Boot enabled
- CSM Disabled
- Windows 8 Fast Startup on (the one in System Settings)
- First Boot device is Windows Boot Manager SSD (the only bootable disk in my system)

CPU: i5 6600k
Mobo: Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
RAM: Kingston 8GB (2x4) DDR4 2666
GPU: Asus GTX 780
SSD: 1x Samsung 850 EVO, 1x Samsung 840 EVO
PSU: Seasonic G-550

Incase there is more information needed I will answer them with pleasure.

Thanks in advance!

You can't speed up BIOS without disabling functionality like IRST, and 15s for Windows to go from start to desktop is good.

Just start using sleep
windows key + r, type msconfig and hit enter. Click the startup tab and uncheck boxes for things that don't need to load at boot time such as adobe, flashplayer update, google chrome and crap like that. You can start these programs later when you want to use them. Do not uncheck any box you are unsure about. The less programs that have to load the faster the system will boot.

Also what kind of software are you running at boot, an example will be antivirus, maybe you start too much program at boot making your startup slower than usually.
Your machine look good but anyway 25 seconds is not bad, It's ok the time get,

Guess you don't use Win 8 or 10 then. Those things have been moved to the task manager (new startup tab). Unless you have dozens of entries though it shouldn't make boot take to much longer than normal. Hell, this guy's startup to desktop is only 25s (while even reviewers are around 20s) and he's complaining, it'll take more than a clean start to help

Thank you for your reaction, I don't necessarily NEED faster boot times but after seeing other people with similar specs and even someone with an HDD getting much faster boot times compared to mine I was a little curious.

However, which setting should I be using instead of fully shutting down? Sleep or Hibernate?

I think you've been reading the wrong thing, most are in the 20s range from cold boot to desktop. Those "7s" startup times are either for boot to login screen or for devices with very high levels of optimization.

When possible, use sleep, since hibernate requires the OS to put the system memory into disk (takes time to write and read). Windows 8 and 10 default to hybrid sleep, where it sleeps but keeps a hibernation file just in case.

Clean Out Programs that Launch at Startup. One of the most tried and true ways to speed up your boot process is to keep unnecessary programs from starting up with your computer. You may also use the free program called CCleaner to optimize the performance of your PC, hope it helps.

Tried to disable some startup programs but boot didn't really speed up. Btw my Bios time according to Windows taskmanager is 10.1 seconds and another 15 seconds for Windows, how can I speed this up?
