I have a GTX 460 v2. I know it is old and slow. I want to upgrade to a GTX 970. However is there any method to squeeze any more value from the old card? Any Trade-in program? Or in the trash can?

Solution
Never sold a graphics card on ebay, have sold other pc part though.
Just be upfront and honest about the card, list as much details as you can such as the cards phyical condition (does it have rust or corrosion anywhere, if its clean or dirty etc), how old it is, what comes with it.
Pictures of the card will help.
The last thing you want is bad feedback or a paypal dispute over something silly that you have overlooked, 99% of the time you won't have any issues though.

Can you explain more about "recoup some of the funds from purchasing a new card"?
I find it is very hard to sell this card on ebay.

If you were to buy a new card before selling the old one you could recover some of the costs.

Sell the old card before buying a new one - you are short on funds to buy a new card.
Sell the old card after buying a new one - recover some of your money spent.

Sorry if it wasn't explained properly.

Thank you! But do you have any suggestions on selling cards on ebay?

I would suggest cleaning the card first. Use rubbing alcohol on the metal parts, clean the pins(use q-tips). Remove the plastic around the fan and the fan itself, clean that. Get tire shine, spray it on a rag and rub the plastic so it looks like new. While you have the fan off, clean the fins with the rubbing alcohol before putting the fan back on. Lay the card on a large piece of white paper and take photos of it so there is nothing in the background but white and the card(also include any original CDs, or manuals you have with it-people love that). After all the cleaning, I would list it as seller refurbished.

Research what others are selling for. Right now it looks like there are a lot of "buy it nows" around the $50 - $75 dollar range. There is one that is ending soon with a starting bid request of $29 and 0 bids. So I would say you are probably not going to get anywhere near $50.

I would suggest an auction starting at $1. Add to the title "NO RES", this means no reserve. Put a buy it now price for $50 on it. I think you may actually get more than that guy trying to get it to start at $29, cause when you put $1 starting point on it, you get a TON of people watching and interested, which will be more than what he probably has. As always, be honest in your description.

Anyway... gave you WAY more to chew on than I meant to. I hope it was helpful.
