I'm building a PC outside the case first, I have everything hooked up, but now I wanna see if it will boot up. The videos I saw online tell me to short some connectors on my board to get it to start, but I don't feel comfortable to do that. How can I start the PC without jumping the connectors? I have an MSI x99 SI motherboard

Thank you

there are some motherboard that has built-in power button. but on most motherboard you have to short the PWR jumper pin. if you dont feel too comfortable shorting them, just take old power(reset button will do just the same) button from unused old chassis( be sure to keep the pin header intact) and use that as a portable power switch/jumper).
